Sammons Trucking was started in 1962. Over the years Sammons has aggressively added to our commodity and territorial base until the industry was deregulated in the early 1980s. At that time, Sammons became a nation-wide carrier of general commodities specializing in flatbed freight. Historically Sammons has been strictly an Owner Operator company (including small privately owned fleets). At Sammons we have expanded our trailer capacity to include step-decks, double-drops, RGNs, and specialized equipment.
Sammons has over 350 independant contractors leased on with seven company terminals and over 50 agents. Combined, we handle a diverse wealth of commodites. Most recently Sammons has been expanding their presence in the heavy-haul sector of the market, while maintaining their roots as a flatbed and step-deck carrier.
